For many of our student participants, their challenge represents the first time they travel abroad without family. For this reason, we work tirelessly to ensure that parents in particular are reassured knowing their loved ones are safe and well during their trip.

As you’d expect, Wi-Fi and phone reception will be absent for a significant duration of your main trek, so it won’t always be possible to keep in contact while you’re away. That’s where we step in! Each day we receive updates from our guides and support staff, and any photos shared by the group will be posted to social media at the end of each day.

Sometimes we might not hear from a particular group for a day or two, but that’s perfectly normal. Not all campsites or mountain villages have signal, and we will hear from our ground agent if anything isn’t going according to plan.

Still, it’s perfectly natural to worry, especially when the trip involves a high altitude trek, so this year we’ve set up a For Parents page on our website dedicated to helping friends and family keep up with your adventure.

Before you head off, pass on the above link, where they will be able to locate your particular challenge. There, they can see your day-by-day trekking itinerary, together with a route map. We’ll also upload pictures of your support staff and add links to social media, where they can view any photos we receive from your group using the relevant hashtag.

Likes and comments on social media are always welcome, however we don’t monitor all communication on these channels, so the best way to reach us is by email. We remain contactable by phone, although we do try to keep the line clear for emergencies during our peak trekking season, which runs from late August through mid-September.

Of course, if an emergency situation were to arise, we would expect them to call us immediately, either on the general number (during business hours) or the emergency telephone line (out of hours). The emergency number will be provided in your Final Information Pack, issued approximately one month before your departure.

If you or your loved ones have any questions or concerns about your trip, please don’t hesitate to contact us and we would be more than happy to help.
