Is my booking protected?

Founded over 60 years ago, ABTA is the UK's largest travel association, representing travel agents and tour operators. ABTA protection is designed to enforce standards and provide insurance for holidaymakers.

ATOL protects you when you book a holiday with a UK travel company. It ensures that you don't lose the money you paid out or become stranded abroad if your travel company collapses. If an ATOL protected travel company ceases trading, the scheme protects customers who have booked holidays with the firm.

While ATOL is a compulsory licensing system run by the government, ABTA is a voluntary scheme that Travel agents can sign up to and become a member. ABTA has a specific code of conduct that its suppliers have to abide by in order to be certified and there is a lot of protection if things go wrong with your holiday.

Choose a Challenge is both ATOL-protected and ABTA-bonded. This provides our participants with the peace of mind of financial security, both before and during their trips. All of our challenges are covered by the Package Travel Regulations, while those with flights included have the additional protections provided by the ATOL scheme.

What this means in practice is that, in the event we are forced to cancel your trip before departure due to unforeseen circumstances, you will be offered a transfer to an alternative trip (subject to availability) or a full refund of monies paid to Choose a Challenge. Such circumstances are defined as “Force Majeure”, instances of which are referred to in Section 12 of the Terms and Conditions.

Please note: If a “Force Majeure” event occurs during your trip, Choose a Challenge will cover any additional accommodation costs for a minimum of three nights. In addition to this, for those with flights included in their booking, where necessary we will rearrange your return flight to ensure your safe repatriation to your home country.
