If you don’t hit your minimum sponsorship requirement, then unfortunately you will not be able to travel on your challenge.

Those concerned about hitting their sponsorship target should get in touch with their charity, who will be able to help by giving you tips, ideas, fundraising opportunities and 1-to-1 support throughout your fundraising journey.

If you think you might need more time to fundraise, speak to your charity representative in the first instance, as they may be able to offer some flexibility around deadline dates.

If you are registered on one of our overseas trekking challenges, we do offer flexible payment arrangements. Page 3 of your Challenge Information Pack illustrates the different fundraising plans available. If, for example, it is not looking likely that you will reach the full fundraising amount, you may consider reducing your overall target in lieu of a flexi-payment, which is payable to Choose a Challenge at 10 weeks before departure.

With good time management and active engagement with your charity representative(s), the fundraising targets for each of our challenges are designed to be achievable.

If you are still not able to reach your minimum sponsorship requirement, please contact us. On many of our challenges we can offer you the option of deferring your space to the following year, allowing more time to reach your fundraising goal. Full details can be found in our Terms & Conditions.

The fee to defer your trip is £200 (or €200 for our EU trips), and this is added to your current booking within five working days of your request being submitted. Once paid, you are able to re-register for a trip departing the following year, without re-paying the registration fee, carrying over any donations already pledged.

If you are not in a position to defer, then you may unfortunately need to cancel your trip entirely. In this case, all fundraising completed will be retained by your chosen charity. There is no additional cancellation fee, but any payments submitted to Choose a Challenge at that point are forfeit. You may be able to submit a claim through your travel insurer, depending on the terms of your policy and the reason(s) for cancellation.

To cancel or defer your trip, please submit a Trip Alteration Form by no later than 10 weeks before your scheduled departure. This will be processed within five working days.

We hope you found the above information useful. If you have any questions or concerns about reaching your fundraising target, please speak with your chosen charity in the first instance, as there may be further support they can offer you. If you then decide you wish to change your booking details, feel free to contact us for further assistance.
