You will generally have a baggage allowance of no less than 20kg on International flights. However, this varies from airline to airline, so we suggest checking with the specific carrier's website before travelling. This will also appear on your Final Information Pack, which we email you approximately one month before travel.

For those joining one of our UK trekking challenges, there is no official weight limit, although we don’t recommend carrying more than 5-6kg in your backpack when walking for several hours at a time. Any excess luggage may be able to be stored in our transportation and/or accommodation, depending on the provisions included in your tour package.

If you have signed up to one of our international trekking challenges, we generally advise that if you've packed your bags to the limit permitted by your airline, then you’ve more than likely overpacked! Remember - Our porters will generally be handling your main luggage during the trek, and there are strict limits in terms of what they can carry. Internal flights are also included in some of our itineraries, which have their own weight restrictions.

You will be permitted to leave any luggage you don’t require for the main trek at your first night’s accommodation. This is typical for those travelling on extension trips, for instance, who wish to set aside clothes for the extra days in-country. For any participants planning to do this, it would be advisable to store a third bag inside your checked-in luggage on the flight.

For most of our international trekking events, your main luggage bag must be soft-shell, as our porters will carry this up the mountain for you. The exception to this is our Machu Picchu challenge, to which you can bring a hard-case carrier (should you wish). The reason is because we provide you with a duffel bag to take on your trek, which will be carried up by our mules. Your main bag will therefore remain in Cusco for the duration of your trek.

Machu Picchu also has a series of restrictions that apply to all visitors, including restrictions on the size of your backpack. You can read more about these particular restrictions here.

If you have any specific questions or concerns about luggage restrictions ahead of your trip, please don’t hesitate to contact us any time.
