In agreeing to our Terms and Conditions, you certify that you will have valid and suitable travel insurance for the duration of your trip. Travel insurance is mandatory for all of our international events, and it is strongly recommended that you take out an insurance policy as soon as you have booked your trip with us, just in case you have to unexpectedly cancel your trip for insurable reasons.

Participants must provide proof of their travel insurance by no later than 10 weeks before their scheduled departure by sending us their Policy Wording document (which provides a breakdown of the terms of your coverage) as well as their Certificate of Insurance.

You can do this either by logging into your registration page and uploading them to the ‘Documents’ section, or by simply forwarding them via email to team@chooseachallenge.com.

Choose a Challenge does not provide its own travel insurance. Participants are therefore responsible for arranging their own cover. Whilst we are not able to recommend any particular insurer, We have team-members that have personally used True Traveller in the past and are highly rated on TrustPilot.

Examples of alternative insurance companies our participants have used include (but are not limited to):

Endsleigh

JS Travel Insurance

World Nomads

Good To Go

It's extremely important to ensure that you're happy with the level of cover that your chosen insurance company and policy provide you with. Everyone will have their own requirements from a travel insurance provider and it's vital that you ensure that you have a level of cover that you're comfortable with whilst overseas.

To comply with our trip requirements, your travel insurance will need to cover medical evacuation (including repatriation) and trekking up to the destination-specific altitude specified below:

Kilimanjaro (5,895m)

Everest Base Camp (5,645m)

Machu Picchu (4,600m)

High Atlas Mountains (4,167m)

It is also recommended you add coverage for trip cancellation, just in case anything happens nearer to your departure date that would render you unable to travel.

In the unlikely event you need to be evacuated from the mountain by helicopter, these costs are often required up-front by the local Air & Mountain Rescue Services. You should therefore be sure to always have access to emergency funds in case of emergency.

The UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has some helpful information for foreign travellers obtaining travel insurance on their website, which you view by clicking here.

We hope you found the above information useful. If you have any questions or concerns about your travel insurance, please don’t hesitate to contact us and we will be happy to help.
